We are pleased to announce that David Clark, writer, professor, peer, former MP as well as friend and supporter of Arundel & South Downs CLP, has kindly donated 10 signed copies of his new book, with all sale profits going to CLP funds. The book, published next week is titled, 'Voices from Labour's Past : Ordinary People Extraordinary Lives', and provides an 'insiders perspective on the lives of the men and women who were active in the Labour Party from the early years of the twentieth century'.
Many of our CLP members will know David as Lord Clark of Windermere, who entertained us with typical understated, down to earth and candid reminiscences from his life both in and outside of Parliament and the Lords, as our special guest at our CLP Summer Fundraiser Dinner a couple of years ago. David has the unusual achievement, having started work with the Forestry Commission at 16, before teaching, then serving as an MP for 40 years, before coming full circle by becoming Forestry Commission Chair after leaving Parliament! Since 2001 he has sat in the Lords, with his special interests in open spaces, the environment and his opposition to blood sports, amongst other things.
Voices from Labour's Past has 208pp and is published in paperback and has been signed exclusively for Arundel & South Downs CLP members. It is available from us. Anyone interested in reserving a copy, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
